The Castletown Metropolitan Silver Band has been in existence since 1896, and in fact actually existed prior to this under a different name. There is much historical information available, which can be obtained from the Band Historian. Two amusing booklets, outlining the early days of the band, have been produced by Dennis Spooner and can be obtained from the Band Secretary, at £6 per set, inclusive of postage.

PURPOSE

The band exists for the benefit of its members, who are interested in music and brass bands and of increasing their ability and knowledge. The band also derives satisfaction when it is able to discourse music for the benefit of its supporters and the public at large.

REHEARSAL AND VENUE

The band rehearse on Sunday evenings at 7pm and Tuesday evenings at 7.30pm. The venue is the "Queen Street Mission Hall", Queen Street, Castletown. Visitors always most welcome.

MUSIC CASSETTE TAPE

The band recorded a cassette tape in 1996 to mark its Centenary. The tape is called " Centenary Celebration" and features much Isle of Man Music together with concert favourites from over the years. The ever popular and evocative Ellan Vannin folk song is included. The tape is available from the Band Secretary, priced at £6 inclusive of packing and postage.

The band maintain a database of supporters, who receive band engagement lists and information at regular intervals. For inclusion on this please contact the band secretary.

ENGAGEMENTS
