CASTLETOWN YOUTH & COMMUNITY CENTRE

OUTLINE OF THE CLUB

Castletown youth and community Centre, with the help of its members and the local community has recently been refurbished with new toilets, disabled toilet, baby changing faciities as well as redecoration to most areas.

The main activities of the club are its large gym (football, badminton, hockey etc.) TV lounge with DVD/Video, computer suite with laptops and PCs with internet access, homework study area, cafe with drinks, hot and cold food, and a games room for pool, table tennis, table football, darts etc.

Other activities include arts and crafts, games, play station, digital cameras, trips out, community based projects such as beach cleans and outdoor adventures.

Present activities;

Mon, Wed & Fri 12.30 to 3.00 Day space. Used by school children for lunchtime activities, Job club for unemployed 16 to 19 year olds.

Mon 1.00 to 2.30 Parent and child club.

Fri 1.00 to 2.30 Lunch club for over 65's.

Tue & Thu 7.30 to 10.00. Youth club for years 9 +

Wed 3.45 to 6.00 Homework club for years 7 & 8 (in conjunction with Castle Rushen High School).

Fri 6.00 to 7.15 Youth club for years 4, 5, & 6.

Fri 7.30 to 9.30 Youth club for years 7, 8 & 9.

Sat 8.00 to 10.30 Drop in for all ages.

Various days the centre is used for one to one teaching by Castle Rushen High School and the charity 'Include'.

Various days Isle of Man College use the facility for part time courses.

Various days for special projects in conjunction with Castle Rushen High School.

The Youth Service

All the staff employed at the centre are employed by the Department of Education and are part of a team of over 160 staff throughout the island.

The area youth officer for the south of the island is Angela Guest, who can be contacted on 686057.

Community Use

The building is also used by the IOM College and CRHS for various activities. If you oir your club are interested in using the building please contact lettings enquiries: 685785
